Acceptable Use Policy
Version: 1.0 (DRAFT) · Last updated: April 2026
In plain English
Use MyLiP for your own legal matter. Don’t resell it, reverse-engineer it, scrape it, use it to build a competing product, or use it for anything illegal. If you break these rules we may suspend your account.
1. What MyLiP is for
MyLiP is for self-represented litigants in the United Kingdom using the Service to analyse their own case, access UK legal information from public sources, and prepare their own court documents. It is also used by professionals supporting LiPs (McKenzie Friends, direct access barristers) and by subscribers managing a case on behalf of a family member under a lasting power of attorney or equivalent authority.
2. What you must not do
You must not, and must not permit anyone else to:
- Resell, sublicense or share your account with anyone. One account = one user (or one case under lawful authority).
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the training data, prompts, system messages, or any proprietary component of the Service.
- Scrape or programmatically harvest any part of the Service, the UK Law Library, or the Judge Intelligence database.
- Use the Service to build a competing product — including training another AI model on MyLiP outputs, or recreating any part of the Service elsewhere.
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose, including fraudulent claims, harassment, or the preparation of materially false court documents.
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or anything designed to disrupt the Service.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users’ accounts, data, or any part of our infrastructure.
- Misrepresent MyLiP’s outputs as having been produced by a solicitor, barrister or other regulated professional.
- Use the Service to provide legal advice to third parties. MyLiP itself does not give legal advice, and its outputs may not be repackaged and sold as legal advice.
- Upload documents relating to a person other than yourself without appropriate lawful authority (for example LPA, consent, or professional instruction).
3. Fair-use guidance on AI queries
Paid subscriptions include unlimited AI queries within normal individual use. If our systems detect automated or scripted query patterns, concurrent sessions from multiple locations, or query volumes that suggest account sharing or abuse, we may:
- Contact you to discuss the pattern.
- Apply a temporary rate limit.
- Suspend the account in clear cases of abuse.
A household with two adults both with active cases is two accounts, not one.
4. Community conduct
If you have access to the MyLiP Slack community (Standard tier and above), the following additional rules apply:
- Treat other members with respect. Personal attacks, harassment, or abusive language will result in removal.
- Do not share confidential material about ongoing proceedings (including other parties’ names, addresses or contact details) without their consent. Anonymise where possible.
- Do not give legal advice to other members. General information and your own experience are welcome; advising another LiP on what to do in their case is not.
- Do not promote competing products or recruit members for paid services.
5. Content you upload
You are responsible for the content you upload. You represent and warrant that:
- You have the right to upload it (for example, it’s your own case file, or you have appropriate consent/authority).
- It does not infringe anyone else’s intellectual property rights.
- It does not contain malicious code or unlawful content.
6. Enforcement
If we believe you have breached this policy we may, depending on the severity:
- Contact you to resolve the issue.
- Suspend your account pending investigation.
- Terminate your account under our Terms of Service, section 13.
- Report to law enforcement where we reasonably believe a crime has been committed.
Where practicable we will give you notice and an opportunity to remedy before suspension or termination. We may skip that step for serious breaches (illegality, malicious activity, or conduct that endangers the integrity of the Service).
7. Reporting abuse
If you believe another user is breaching this policy, please tell us: hello@mylip.ai, subject line “AUP report”. We will investigate promptly and in confidence.
